Why does it show up in logs that I follow people but Instagram counter remains the same?

There is nothing to worry about. Sometimes, Instagram counters do not refresh on time, meaning that it will refresh but a little bit later. Wait for a day and if you still do not see any change try to parse your user base again and then launch the task one more time.
